How do I get the certificate of completion for a Library Tutorial that I completed in Canvas?

Each of the six (6) modules in the ARC Library Research Tutorials in Canvas has its own Certificate of Completion. To unlock and download your certificate(s), follow the steps below.

To earn your certificate:

  1. View all pages in the module

  2. Take the quiz at the end of the module (last page)

  3. Pass the quiz with a score of 75% or higher

    • That’s at least 9 out of 12 correct

    • You can retake the quiz as many times as needed

To access and download your certificate:

  1. After you pass the quiz, the "Next" page after the module quiz will be the “Certificate of Completion” page
  2. On that page, click the link in the upper left labeled "Download Certificate"
  3. The certificate will download as a .JPG image file
  4. You can then submit it in your other Canvas courses, email it, or print it—depending on what your instructor asks

Using the Canvas app on your phone?

After completing the quiz in the Canvas Student app:

  1. Scroll to the very bottom of the quiz page and tap "Next"
  2. You will see a message that says “This page can only be viewed from a web browser”
  3. Tap the link (such as "Open in Safari" or "Open in Chrome") to open the certificate page in your device's browser
  4. From there, you can use the "Download Certificate" link to download the certificate as a .JPG file to your device
Because there is so much variation in how mobile devices handle downloads, we strongly recommend using a laptop or desktop to download and save your certificate if possible.

Important Notes:

  • Your instructors in other classes cannot see your tutorial progress—you’ll need to download and submit the certificate in your other Canvas course(s) or email it to them, depending on their instructions.

  • Each module has its own certificate, so if you're completing more than one, you'll need to download each one separately.
