Why won't the library video in my Canvas class play?

Unfortunately, sometimes streaming video from library databases (Films on Demand, Kanopy, etc.) embedded in your Canvas course might not automatically load to play. If this happens, try one of these workarounds:

  • Try accessing the page with a mobile browser rather than the Canvas app.
  • Close your browser and then log back into Canvas again to access the page.
  • Try a different browser.
    • Some videos will play in Firefox but not in Chrome or Edge.
  • Go to your browser settings and clear your browser history, cache, and cookies. Clearing cookies will sign you out of most sites. Ensure you will remember any passwords that might be saved by your browser. Clearing your cache will load sites more slowly on your first visit.

If you are still having trouble viewing the video please contact us by submitting your question below and include the title of the film (if available) and your instructor.
