What if my class uses a resource that isn't freely available or there is no OER option like a novel?
The OER Project Lead (Andi Adkins Pogue) will work with individual faculty who are utilizing copyrighted material that can only be obtained through a purchase. This might include novels, popular nonfiction, and other impossible to find OER material. The college may agree to use funds to purchase class sets or ebook licenses that can be managed by the library. All faculty in this situation are asked to share their book information through the: Impossible to Convert to OER Course Materials Survey
When filling this out, faculty are asked to think about the longevity of the resource and to consider using it for several years.
The goal of this project is to become a Zero Textbook Cost campus, which will reduce costs for students and help break down barriers to them achieving their educational goals. The college also has to look at sustainable solutions and purchasing class sets is often not sustainable.
