I am adjunct faculty and I don't know yet what I will be teaching in fall 2022. How can I participate?
This is one of the challenges of the program's tight timeline. Adjunct faculty will be paid based on their FTE load for the 2021/22 academic year, but they are being asked to create material for the 2022/23 year and many adjunct faculty do not know what they will be teaching in fall 2022.
The goal is to convert all courses to Zero Textbook Costs, so the hope is that any work you do this year will be useful for not only you, but the entire department. Adjunct faculty are encouraged to think about the courses they are teaching in fall 2021 and spring 2022 and any courses they have been asked to teach in the past. Then, collaborate with others in the department who also teach those classes so that you can potentially work together and efforts aren't duplicated.
If, after you've participated and created content for a specific course, and then you are not asked to teach the course in fall 2022 or you are asked to teach a completely new course, you will not be penalized for not using the content you created or for not having having a ZTC course if no resources were created for the new course you've been asked to teach.
The district will be getting additional funding from the state to create ZTC degree pathways so there will be additional opportunities to earn compensation for work on creating ZTC courses.
