Can I apply for the OER Conversion Grant if I've already participated in the OER Award Program?

Yes - with some caveats. If you participated in the OER Award Program and have been teaching the course for which you applied using an OER that you're happy with, then you cannot apply for category one.

You can still apply for categories two or three. Details:

  • Category Two: This category is for those faculty who want to make substantial updates/changes to an existing OER, which will result in a new version of the textbook with you as the author. This is called a remix.
  • Category Three: This category is for faculty who are working to create open homework, assessments, and ancillaries for the entire sequence of the course. If there is already some homework in place (e.g. a small pool of math questions for a math class), faculty can still apply to build on that as long as the final deliverables cover all learning outcomes for the course.

There is much more detail Module 6 of the Introduction to OER and Open Pedagogy Canvas course.
