How do I add the EZproxy link for off-campus access?

The library subscribes to several databases that are only available for student and employee use.  Sometimes links that you easily visited from on-campus don't work when you try to visit them again from off-campus.  The library uses a proxy server to authenticate off-campus users and allow them to visit these subscriber-only resources.  Essentially, using the proxy server treats users as if they are on-campus and authorizes their usage.  The Los Rios Libraries use a proxy service called EZproxy to manage authentication.

Which links do I need to modify?

Several databases include a Share, Permalink, Stable URL or Bookmark feature that will include the needed information for off-campus access.  EBSCO, for example, includes a Share button on search results that includes an option to create a link that will work off-campus.

More actions menu, select Share

Other databases may not include this feature. In this case, you'll want to copy the URL from the browser bar or the stable link provided on the page and add the EZproxy prefix to ensure off-campus access.  JSTOR, for example, provides a URL that will need modification to ensure off-campus access.

JSTOR URL needs EZproxy prefix

If you'd like to share a link to a specific database, you can right-click on the name of the database from the Databases page and the URL will include the appropriate proxy information.

How should I modify the link?

Use the URL converter below to create a link that will work both on- and off-campus.  Copy the converted URL for sharing and stable access.
