Q. Why do Alma notices show a warning that the sender may be "impersonating a domain associated with your organization"?

Answer

Letters from Alma originate from the domain exlibrisgroup.com. But we want them to come from Los Rios, not a third party. For now, the district has told us to use the domain losrios.org, which they have registered. If you look in the email headers, they show that this domain is a "permitted sender" for our network.

Nevertheless, these warnings continue to show in Outlook. The warnings do not seem to appear in Gmail, which most students are using.

We believe this can be fixed by routing all Alma-originating email through a gateway controlled by the district. Once it exits this gateway, it will in fact be originating from losrios.edu, so we can list the sender as losrios.edu, and the warnings should vanish. We hope to get this done by the end of Summer 2020.
