How can I report problems with book jacket images in OneSearch?

Answer

Book cover images in OneSearch are usually provided by Syndetics. If you see the wrong jacket, or an image that says "No book cover available" or "Unjacketed Hardcover," and the image url contains syndetics.com, report the problem to syndetics.corrections@proquest.com. Send them as much info as you can, e.g. title of the book, ISBN, and a link to OneSearch where they can see it.

For those with access to the online support portal (SalesForce), you can put this in as a ticket instead of emailing. For Platform/Service, select ProQuest Database, Ebooks, Video and RefWorks. Then for Product, select Bowker (Syndetics, Books in Print, etc.).

If the image URL says something other than Syndetics, please use the report a problem button and someone will file a ticket with Ex Libris.

Note that many records will show a generic image. That is not a problem to be reported, but if an image is needed for a particular record, we can add one using a special process.

  1. To check if a certain ISBN has a Syndetics book cover, you can use this URL, replacing the numbers with your ISBN: https://syndetics.com/index.aspx?isbn=9781517908768/SC.JPG&client=primo (found here https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/308176-primo/suggestions/41467699-find-alternate-isbns-in-the-available-record-to-fo)
