When do reading lists become searchable in OneSearch?
Answer
In Alma, we attach titles to reading lists, and reading lists are associated with courses.
Our courses in Alma, which get loaded automatically, have a start date. The start date is 2 weeks before the start of the semester. Courses also have an end date. The end date is the last day of the semester.
We normally send students to the Textbooks tab of OneSearch to search for reserve items. The reserve search forms we have set up send students to the Textbooks tab.
To become searchable/viewable in the textbook tab of OneSearch, a reading list needs to be associated with an active course. Every night Alma runs a job that activates courses that are at or past their start date, and deactivates courses that are past their end date.
So normally, reserve titles for the coming term will be searchable about 13 days before the semester starts, and will stop being searchable the day after the semester ends.
