Q. How do I change a due date on a checked out item?
If you need to change the due date on an item checked out to a patron, use the Manage Patron Services option in the Fulfillment menu. (Remember, your location must be set to a Circulation Desk.)
Search for the user by ID or name and select their account.
View the loan that needs to be updated, and use the More Actions [...] to select Change Due Date.
Select the new due date and hit Change Due Date
You will receive a green popout box to confirm the due date change was successful.
If the change was unsuccessful, check:
- Whether the new due date is past the patron's expiration date. A due date cannot extend past the user's expiration date. Refer to an Access Services Lead or Systems Administrator for assistance.
- Whether there are outstanding hold requests on the item.
If you do not see the "Change Due Date" in the more actions menu, check to make sure that you are in the Manage Patron Services view. (Do not view the user from a User Search for this type of action.)
