How can I renew a loan for a patron in a way that generates an email to the patron?

When looking at the patron's loans in Manage Patron Services, there are two ways to renew loans on their behalf.
- If you go to the More Actions menu and select Renew, the loan will be renewed, but no notice will be set.
- If you select the item or items by checking the box to the left of the item and click Renew Selected, or if appropriate click Renew All, the item(s) will be renewed and the patron will receive the Borrowing Activity Letter, which shows all their loans with the updated due dates.
Note that when a patron renews their loan independently in OneSearch they do not receive a notice.
As of November 2024, patrons will receive an email notification when their loans are automatically renewed. The letter shows each item and its new due date.
